Forum Nokia, the largest online global mobile developer community recently announced a global contest, Calling All Innovators that should enable developers to create mobile applications for the betterment of society.

The Forum Nokia Calling All Innovators Competition is open to all mobile application developers, and features three distinct categories for submissions:

  • Eco-Challenge: Make a Difference
  • Emerging Markets: IMAGINE the Possibilities
  • Technology Showcase: The Developer Showdown

Along with a trip to Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, and distribution of their application for free through a variety of Nokia channels, first place winners in each category will receive USD 25,000 while second place and third place winners of each category will receive USD 10,000 and USD 5,000 respectively.

The contest opens on September 16, 2008 and all entries are due by December 15, 2008. Finalists will be selected and notified in January 2009.

Canon has revealed details of their newest addition to the SX series of digital cameras- the Powershot SX10. The camera is featured packed and includes Canon’s new Digic-4 image processor, an optical image stabilizer, face detection technology and a wide angle 20x optical zoom lens.

The camera shoots at a resolution of 10 MP and has a 2.5 inch LCD screen. The camera allows users to capture VGA movies up to one hour. The company claims that the noise in videos is reduced through the utilization of a Voice Coil Motor which also increases focus speed. The SX10 also gives 24 shooting modes which can be accessed through an SLR type dial.

The camera which is supposed to hit stores in late October for about $399 (Rs. 18,800 approximately) is powered by 4 AA batteries.
